Opacification : High ZrO₂ in Zircon Sand makes it an excellent opacifier m, providing opacity and whiteness to the ceramic , glazes and tiles. This helps in achieving the desired aesthetic qualities in ceramic products.
Hardness & Wear Resistance : Zircon exhibits high hardness and wear resistance , which is beneficial in enhancing the durability and longevity of ceramic products.
High Mechanical Strength : Fe₂O₃ content can affect the mechanical strength and properties of ceramics . Low concentration of Fe₂O₃ can lead to ceramics with better mechanical performance , such a higher strength and durability.
Color Control : The oxides can act as colorants in ceramics , influencing the final color of the product. Lower content of these oxides allows better control over desired color of the ceramic material.
Thermal Stability : Zircon has a high melting point (~ 2250°C) and excellent thermal stability.
